March will be a busy month in Emmaus Rotary Club and District 7430.  Here are some of the activities and events that you won’t want to miss:

  • Judge Doug Reichley will be our speaker on March 1 as he presents his classification talk.
  • The Emmaus Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest will take place on March 1 at 2.45 pm at Emmaus High School. Please support the contestants if you can attend.
  • Our club will recognize two outstanding area women as we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.  Thanks to Alicia Ruiz-Orbin and her committee for coordinating this event.
  • Enjoy an evening of exciting Lehigh Valley Phantoms hockey as they take on Binghamton on Sunday March 11. The puck drops at 5.05pm. Tickets are $31(which includes a $5 food voucher). Please contact Bruce Ruggieri for more information.
  • We are collecting packages of instant potatoes for the Angel Network’s Easter food basket project. Please contribute to our effort to collect 150 packages to benefit needy families in the East Penn area. Collections continue through our March 15 meeting.
  • Past District Governor Linda Young will be on hand at our March 15 meeting to present the 2016-2017 Rotary International Presidential Citation to Immediate Past President Jeff McElhaney. Emmaus Rotary is one of just five clubs in the District to earn the award for 2016-2017.
  • Make your plans to attend Rotary Leadership Institute on Saturday March 17 in King of Prussia. Learn more about Rotary.  Engage in interactive discussions with and enjoy the fellowship of Rotarians who make a difference in their communities. Your participation is guaranteed to make Emmaus Rotary stronger (and the Club pays your fees to attend!).
  • Put on your dancing shoes for the District 7430 Foundation Gala on the evening of Saint Patrick’s Day at Pinecrest Country Club in Lansdale. The evening will feature a fabulous dinner, reception for major donors, silent auctions and raffles, fellowship and loads of fun.  Did I mention you will be entertained by Irish step dancers, too? Come join this unique celebration for The Rotary Foundation!
  • I know many club committees are also planning meetings in the month of March as they continue to work on completing initiatives in our 2017-2018 strategic plan. Please join in with your committees to ensure we complete this Rotary year on a high note!

Yours in Rotary,

Burt
