The Anatomy of Social Movements: Lessons for Community Organizations

Dr. Ziad Munson is a professor in the Sociology and Anthropology Department and the author of Abortion Politics (Polity 2018) and The Making of Pro-Life Activists (Chicago 2009). His current research project focuses on the changing political landscape of suburban America.

For this presentation, Ziad will share the key components that make social movements effective, such as leadership, grassroots mobilization, messaging, and the use of media. We can draw parallels between these components and strategies that our club can adopt to mobilize community support, engage members, and drive meaningful change.
